Commonwealth v. S.Y.
S.Y., who was on federal probation for a gun case, was arrested for attempted murder and gun charges in Philadelphia after he was alleged to have walked into a nightclub and fired a gun, striking a patron. S.Y was detained at the scene by security personnel from the club and police recovered a weapon that was said to be lying on the floor next to him. Philadelphia gun violence attorney R. Patrick Link challenged the poor police investigation, and argued that the gun may have been fired by one of the bouncers, which was a possibility the police never considered.
